Welcome to Milpara Community House, we’re glad you dropped by. Milpara means “meeting place”, and that’s exactly what we are, a welcoming hub for everyone in Korumburra and surrounding communities. Since 1979, Milpara has been here to connect, support, and empower people through learning, friendship, and practical help.
At Milpara, you’ll find:
Learning opportunities: From computer skills and craft workshops to personal development and special interest classes, we help you learn new things and enjoy life.
Community support: We offer an Emergency Food Bank, a Services Australia Agent, and visiting services like counselling, St Vincent De Paul Conference and speech pathology. If you need help, we’ll connect you with the right support.
Social connections: Join a group, attend a class, a great way to meet locals and feel at home.
A friendly space: Whether you’re looking for advice, a chat, or a place to belong, Milpara is here for you.
Our vision is simple: to make sure everyone in our community has the chance to learn, grow, and feel connected. We’re proud to be part of the Neighbourhood Houses Gippsland network and a Learn Local Organisation, offering programs that make a real difference.

A journey of community and connection.
Since opening its doors in 1979, Milpara has grown from a small childcare co-operative into a vibrant community hub. Over the years, we’ve introduced programs that make a real difference; First Aid courses in 1983, Adult Literacy in 1986, and the Food Bank in 1990. We became an Incorporated Association in 1989, expanded our facilities, and embraced technology with our first computer in 1990.
Through the decades, Milpara has championed support services, education, and social inclusion: from Centrelink agency status in 2001, to becoming a Registered Training Organisation in 2004, and hosting initiatives like Well Women’s Clinics, Men’s Shed, and community advocacy campaigns. We’ve celebrated milestones like our 25th anniversary in 2004, and continued to adapt—offering online classes during COVID and moving into the Korumburra Community Hub.
Today, after 46 years and over 500,000 visits, Milpara remains true to its name—a meeting place where people learn, connect, and thrive.
In November 2023 we moved from 21 Shellcotts Road into the purpose build Korumburra Community Hub 15 Little Commercial Street.
